The First Rule Of Book Club - you have to read books! Sorry to all you slackers out there who want to be spoon fed information by talking heads. Although Leya and I both love to talk, we're not much for spoon feeding...
The two of us have bantered around the idea of a nutrition club for some time now - and after publicly declaring our commitment at CFR yesterday, here it is! Everyone is welcome to join.
Our Goal: To Inspire. To Educate. To Learn. To Discuss. To Motivate.
We'll be using this blog to:
1. Keep people updated on what we're reading
2. Post book club times/locations
3. Post discussion questions for anyone either wants to prepare, or who can't make a meeting
4. Post a synopsis of book club discussions for the benefit of those who can't attend the meetings
We want YOU to use this blog to:
1. Ask questions
2. Post comments - particularly if you can't make it to book club
Meetings will be weekly (either Tuesdays or Saturdays - depending on YOUR vote), starting late October/early November.
If you're interested in joining Nutrition Book Club, please send an email to nutritionbookclub@gmail.com - or post a comment on the blog!
I've always wanted to be part of a book club. I'm in.
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo! Nutrition nerds unite!
ReplyDeleteI'm SO in
ReplyDeletePaul, this is like the best kind of book club to be a part of - I'm in!
ReplyDeleteI can't read
ReplyDelete...Fast
ReplyDeleteYah! Our first 2 members!! Make sure you vote on your preferred day/time (top right corner).
ReplyDeleteLeya - so funny you should say that. I sooo wanted to write something on facebook about my fellow 'nutrition nerd Leya', but didn't want to offend! Love it! In fact, maybe that should be the new name for our blog... "Nutrition Nerds Unite!" Seriously, I love it.
LOL Julie! And, make that our first 4 members!!
ReplyDeleteI should say I'm in. As long as you're okay with me not finishing a book in time.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be breaking the first book down into a few chapter sections at a time. Otherwise it would be too much to read all at once - not to mention just way to much to discuss.
ReplyDeleteThere may be a food night as we reach the end of the book.... yep, pretty sure that'll happen.
p.s. Paleo Potluck Halloween Caveman Costume Party. Kelly & Chris' house Oct 30th. There will DEFINITELY be food there!
I LOVE nerds. I'm even wearing my "I love nerds" shirt.
ReplyDeleteSo glad everyone's as excited about this as we are!
I would like to be in, but Saturday's will mostly never work for me. But I'd like to participate as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteI love to read and to eat so this is definately the book club for me! Thanks for getting this going Leya and Kelly!
ReplyDeleteCan I be an honorary member who stalks (er, follows along on) the blog? I know y'all don't know me, but I think this is one of the neatest concepts since...I don't know, the paleo diet? I'd probably try to crash the party and invite myself in person, except for living a quarter of the world away:)
ReplyDeleteI would love to join as well!
ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome!!
I just ordered the book...so I am in!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea ladies :)
Oooh this sounds like a great idea! I'm in.
ReplyDeleteSpicypaleo - of course you can cyperstalk us, we're honoured! How did find us??
ReplyDeleteI would love to join!!! Count me in, now I just have to find the book :)
ReplyDeleteDid I miss something? Have you decided which book we are starting with?
ReplyDeleteLook at yesterday's post Crystal. Robb Wolf's Paleo Solution is our first book. We wanted to give lots of notice, as I think you have to order it online. There are no copies in Regina that I know of.
ReplyDeleteYou can get the hardcover book off amazon.ca for $20! And it ships in a few days. That's where mine is coming from :D
ReplyDeleteI ordered the book from amazon last night. Okay if I cyberstalk too?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! All Mom's Welcome!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, count me in!
