Hey folks,
I've got the classroom set up on www.wiziq.com. Invitations have been sent out, hopefully with info on how to access the classroom, to the email addresses that were forwarded to me. It's set for 8:00p.m. Central Saskatchewan time (Ruth and Diane) with things actually kicking off at 8:30.
If there are any issues with getting onto it, please email us at nutritionbookclub@gmail.com. We'll be checking the email a few times that night just in case you need to get a hold of us.

Out of town peeps... send me your email addresses!
Hey folks,
Paul gave me a quick demo of the online classroom the other day and it looks like it's going to be cake. Thanks, Paul! As Tuesday evenings are the smaller of the two book clubs, I think that will be the best day to include the online component.
In order for you to access the classroom, I'm going to need to add you as a participant. This is pretty easy to do. All I need is an email address!
Forward it to kurtleya@accesscomm.ca and I'll get you set up and then, Tuesday, will give you instructions for accessing the classroom.

Week 1: Let's Get It On!!!!!!
Just so we're clear, you DON'T have to have read the ENTIRE book to come to book club this Saturday. I haven't even read the whole book yet (this is Kelly speaking)! Neither have I (and this is Leya)!
And again, just so we're clear, week 1 of NNU is going to be awesome!
If you are AT ALL interested in nutrition:
COME! To NNU book club.
This week, we will talk about:
1. Our Story (why are Leya and I here?)
2. Your story (why are you here?):
3. Based on what you've read in Chapters 1 - 3, what is the most interesting thing you've come across?
4. Is there anything you need clarification on, or where you would like others' opinions?
And again, just so we're clear, week 1 of NNU is going to be awesome!
If you are AT ALL interested in nutrition:
- Whether or not you know Leya and/or I,
- Whether or not you voted on a preferred day for NNU,
- Whether or not you even bought "The Paleo Solution" book,
- Whether or not you've been a CrossFitter for 1 day or 4 years,
COME! To NNU book club.
This week, we will talk about:
1. Our Story (why are Leya and I here?)
2. Your story (why are you here?):
- feel better?
- competition?
- get stronger?
- get faster?
- get healthier?
- general interest?
3. Based on what you've read in Chapters 1 - 3, what is the most interesting thing you've come across?
4. Is there anything you need clarification on, or where you would like others' opinions?
5. Did any of the information in any of the chapters surprise you?
6. For any of you who have read beyond Chapter 3, are there any questions you would like to discuss at NNU Week 2?

In Case You Didn't Notice :)
Robb Wolf totally commented on our blog this week!
Be Jealous!
Or better yet, be a part of it!
Nutrition Nerds Unite Kickoff, next Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!
Weekly - starting Saturday, October 30th
11:15am - 12:30pm.
@ CrossFit Regina
AND
Weekly - starting Tuesday, November 2
8:30pm - 9:30pm
@ Kelly & Chris' house (email me at kellytunison@accesscomm.ca, or check whiteboard at CFR for address)
We've had such a great response to NNU, that we're going to try hosting twice/week to start. Discussion questions will be THE SAME on Sundays & Tuesdays, so you only need to attend one or the other. We will be meeting EVERY WEEK until we've finished the book.
Discussion questions for Week 1 will be posted by the end of this weekend!
I'm not sure if we'll have the online classroom set up for the first session, but we'll try to test it out and have it ready for our online members next Saturday.

Because Nerds Love Q's & A's... Pardon Us: FAQ's
Do I need to be a nerd to join?
We have re-titled our blog "Nutrition Nerds Unite", so if you are not yet a nutrition nerd, you have to aspire to be one. No exceptions!
If I don't read the book, can I still come?
Yes Julie, you can still come ;)
However, to truly become a nutrition nerd, and enjoy the full experience of NNU - you have to read the books! We want you to share your knowledge/learning with others - and to do this, you have to read the books! However, if you are unable to keep up with the readings on occasion you are still welcome to join and participate. You just won't earn the title of Nutrition Nerd... you might not get the t-shirt either.
p.s. I think Chapters might already be sold out of our first book already! Nice work :)
Do I have to do the whole paleo thing?
Psuedo-science haters welcome! No, seriously. While we have our own opinions about nutrition, we came to those opinions after doing our own reading and research, thinking about things and then a lot of trial and error. NNU isn't about telling you to eat or think a certain way. We just want you to eat and think and maybe think about what you're eating (and how you're sleeping, managing stress, having fun and working out, too). The conclusions you draw and the experiences you have are your own. Not to get all one hand clapping in the woods, but this little journey has to be your own thang. We are starting with the Paleo Solution because it's one of the easiest nutrition reads around that also really gets into the science of what our bodies do with food. We think you'll find it riviting, even if you decide not to go the paleo route.
If I can't make the meetings, can I still participate?
Absolutely! XMisterParkx has offered to set up a web-classroom for us - not really sure what that means right now (and we call ourselves nerds!), but sounds like you'll be able to participate online if you can't make it out to the meetings! Thanks Paul!
We'll also be posting our discussion questions and a synopsis of our discussions on the blog before and after each meeting. We're hoping to have an active online NNU following, in addition to those who attend the meetings.
What if I have specific nutrition goals? What kind of support will this group offer?
There is no better way of reaching your nutrition goals than to read and learn about nutrition. If you are struggling to reach a specific goal, we would be THRILLED to help you out. We can answer questions, direct you to resources, provide advice, or go over what you're currently eating . For us to give you our best advice, we'll need at least 1 week's work of food journaling. I know. Food journaling kind of sucks. But it can really help to figure out what's working for you and maybe what isn't. Please - either post a question on the blog, send us an email at nutritionbookclub@gmail.com, grab us at the gym, or talk to use before/after a meeting
I know a non-CrossFitter who is interested. Can he/she join?
What?! There are still non-CrossFitters out there!? Come talk to us, I'm sure we can work something out ;) They can expect a burpee buy-in.
Can I bring my kids to book club?
Yes. Assuming we host book club at CrossFit, they are welcome to come. If they get too loud, we'll just stick them all in tires and roll them down the alley...

First Book: The Paleo Solution, by Robb Wolf
The first book we'll be reading is: The Paleo Solution, by Robb Wolf. So, if you want to join book club, - GO BUY THIS BOOK! It may be a hard one to find used/borrowed right now because it is so new.
Let us preface this post by saying, you DON'T have to eat paleo, believe in paleo, or for that matter even know what paleo is in order to join/benefit/enjoy/participate in this book club. There is a ridiculous amount of great information in this book - regardless of whether or not you feel the "paleo diet" is for you.
The Plan (starting end of October/early November):
